The most graphic wall in the room — and the quietest.

Checkerboard is one of the most recognised patterns in design history — used in fashion, art, architecture and music for decades. In three dimensions, in black and grey, on a wall that actually absorbs sound, it becomes something else entirely.

Britwall 3D Checkerboard Acoustic Wall Panels bring a high-contrast graphic impact to any interior wall while PET acoustic felt and MDF underneath do the quiet work — absorbing echo, taming reverberation and sharpening the sound of the room. A wall that stops you in your tracks. And then lets you hear properly.

High contrast. Real depth. The 3D surface isn't a printed pattern — it's a raised, sculpted checkerboard that shifts with the light, catching shadow across alternate squares and giving the wall genuine physical depth. The black and grey palette keeps it versatile — equally at home in contemporary, industrial, monochrome and Scandi-influenced interiors.

Both problems solved in one panel. Each 610x610mm panel pairs a scratch-resistant PVC laminate surface with a sound-absorbing PET + MDF core — a bold feature wall and genuine acoustic treatment from a single installation, with nothing else needed.

Where it works: offices and workspaces, home studios and recording spaces, meeting rooms, media rooms and living-room feature walls, hospitality and commercial interiors — anywhere design confidence and acoustic performance belong on the same wall.

Simple to fit, built to last. Lightweight and modular, the panels bond to any clean, dry, level wall with adhesive or fixings. The checkerboard demands precise alignment — plan the layout carefully before any panel goes up so the pattern locks perfectly across all four. Scratch-resistant, stain-resistant and wipe-clean for the long term.

Installer-approved, reliably stocked and shipped fast across the UK — trusted by homeowners, landlords, designers and trade alike.

Key Features
  • 3D sculpted checkerboard design — black & grey — A raised, high-contrast checkerboard surface that shifts with the light — not a flat printed pattern but a genuinely three-dimensional finish that brings graphic drama and physical depth to any wall.
  • Real sound absorption (PET + MDF core) — Layered PET acoustic felt over MDF absorbs echo and reverberation, sharpening speech and audio clarity in offices, studios and media rooms where sound quality counts.
  • Decoration and acoustics in one panel — Bold feature wall aesthetics and genuine acoustic treatment from the same panel — no compromise, no separate foam treatment hiding behind the design.
  • Tough, wipe-clean PVC laminate finish — A scratch and stain-resistant surface in a versatile black and grey palette that holds up in busy homes, studios and commercial interiors with minimal upkeep.
  • Modular 610x610mm pack of 4 — Lightweight, easy-align panels that adhesive-fix to any level wall — one pack covers a strong feature area, with the checkerboard locking precisely across every join when laid out correctly.
Installation Guide

Britwall 3D Checkerboard Acoustic Wall Panels – 610x610mm | PET + MDF | Black & Grey | Pack of 4

You'll need: tape measure, spirit level, pencil, panel adhesive (grab adhesive) or suitable screws/fixings for your wall type, and a fine-tooth saw or sharp blade if trimming.

1. Prep the wall — Surface must be clean, dry, level and free of dust or loose paint. Fill and smooth any significant dents — the high-contrast 3D checkerboard highlights surface irregularities more than most patterns.

2. Plan your layout carefully — this step is critical — The checkerboard pattern only works when every panel is oriented correctly and the squares lock across joins. Dry-lay all four panels on the floor first, confirm orientation, and mark a level pencil guide line for your starting row before anything goes on the wall. A single rotated panel breaks the entire pattern.

3. Check your colour orientation — Identify which corner of each panel starts with black and which starts with grey, and confirm they alternate correctly when panels are placed side by side. Mark the top edge of each panel lightly in pencil before fixing so orientation isn't lost during installation.

4. Choose your fixing — On plaster, plasterboard or smooth solid walls, apply grab adhesive in a zig-zag across the back of each panel. On uneven or heavy-duty walls, screw-fix and countersink fixings into the recessed squares of the checkerboard to keep fixings hidden in the shadow lines.

5. Fix the panels — Start from your bottom guide line and work upward and across. Press each panel firmly for a few seconds, butt edges tightly together, and check the checkerboard pattern locks cleanly before moving on. Level every row — use your spirit level constantly.

6. Finish and settle — Wipe off any squeezed-out adhesive before it dries. Allow full bond/cure time before heavy contact (follow your adhesive's curing time).

Care: Wipe clean with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid soaking or abrasive cleaners — the PVC laminate keeps the black and grey finish sharp with minimal maintenance.

Good to know: Indoor use only, lightweight and manageable solo. The checkerboard is the most orientation-sensitive pattern in the range — the layout planning step is where the installation either succeeds or struggles, so take the time to get it right before the first panel goes up.
