Luxury Spa Bathroom with High Gloss SPC Panels

Project: Luxury Spa Bathroom  |  Room: Bathroom / Shower Enclosure  |  Difficulty: Medium  |  Time: 4–6 hours  |  Panel: Golden Veined Marble High Gloss SPC

Five-star hotel bathrooms all have one thing in common — floor-to-ceiling marble. It makes a room feel instantly more expensive, more spacious, and more indulgent. But real marble is heavy, cold, porous, and costs thousands to install. High gloss SPC marble panels give you the same mirror-like finish, the same continuous marble veining, and the same wow factor — at a fraction of the price, and you can install them yourself.

This guide shows you how to transform your shower enclosure and main feature wall into a luxury spa using Britwall's Golden Veined Marble SPC Panels. The glossy surface reflects light beautifully, the continuous marble pattern flows across panels seamlessly, and the result is genuinely breathtaking.

⏱ 4–6 hours 📐 Shower + feature wall ~9 m² 🔧 Medium — 2 people recommended 💷 From £482 total

What You'll Need

This guide covers a shower enclosure (~4 m²) plus one feature wall behind the bath or basin (~5 m²) — a total of approximately 9 m². One pack of SPC panels (8.93 m²) covers this perfectly with very little waste.

Shopping List & Cost Breakdown

Golden Veined Marble SPC Panel (pack of 3) × 1 pack (8.93 m²) £450
Spirit Level, Fine-Tooth Saw / Circular Saw, Measuring Tape DIY kit
Estimated Total From £498

💡 Need to cover more area? If you're panelling a full bathroom (12+ m²), you'll need 2 packs (covering ~17.86 m²). That's £900 for panels + accessories — a significant investment, but the result is a bathroom that looks like it cost three times that. For the feature wall only (~3–4 m²), one pack covers comfortably.

Step-by-Step Installation

1

Prepare the Surface Perfectly

Because these panels are high gloss, any imperfection behind them can show as a ripple or wave in the reflective surface. The wall must be completely flat and smooth. Sand down any high spots, fill any dips, and let filler cure fully. If going over existing tiles, check every tile is firmly bonded — any hollow tiles must be re-fixed first. Give the surface a final wipe with a damp cloth and let it dry.

2

Unbox and Plan Pattern Continuity

Lay all 3 panels flat on the floor together and arrange them to line up the marble veining for maximum continuity. The panels are designed so the pattern flows across multiple boards — take a photo of your preferred arrangement before moving them so you remember the order. Label the back of each panel 1, 2, 3.

3

Cut Panels with Care

These large-format panels require a circular saw with a fine-tooth blade (80 tooth minimum) or a track saw for perfectly straight cuts. Mark cut lines on the back of the panel. Always cut from the back to protect the gloss surface. For any cuts near fixtures, use a jigsaw with a fine blade — go slowly to avoid chipping the gloss face.

4

Apply Adhesive Evenly

Apply panel adhesive in a grid pattern across the full back of the panel — not just zigzag lines. Full coverage is important for these large-format panels to prevent any flex or bowing. Keep the protective film on the face while handling. Have your helper ready — at 2440×1220mm these panels are large and need two people to position safely.

5

Position and Press

With your helper, lift the panel into position and press firmly from the centre outwards using a clean cloth (never press directly on the gloss surface with bare hands as fingerprints can affect adhesion). Use a spirit level to ensure perfect vertical alignment. Support the panel with temporary props or painter's tape while the adhesive sets — at least 2 hours, ideally overnight.

6

Align the Pattern Across Panels

When positioning the second and third panels, check the marble pattern alignment carefully before the adhesive grabs. The gold veining should flow naturally from one panel to the next. Small adjustments can be made in the first few minutes. Once aligned to your satisfaction, press firmly across the full surface.

7

Seal All Joints and Edges

Apply clear waterproof silicone along all panel edges, joins, and around any fixtures. For the panel-to-panel join, apply silicone into the joint and smooth flush with the panel surface — the gloss finish means any proud sealant will be very visible, so take your time to get it flat. For shower areas, double-seal the base joint for complete watertightness.

8

Remove Protective Film and Clean

Once adhesive and sealant have fully cured (24 hours minimum), carefully peel back the protective film from the panel faces. Clean immediately with a soft microfibre cloth to remove any adhesive residue or fingerprints from the film removal. Use a glass cleaner for a streak-free finish on the high gloss surface.

💡 Pro tip — Lighting is everything with gloss panels: High gloss marble panels are incredibly responsive to lighting. Position bathroom downlights at angles that wash across the panel surface — this creates dramatic shadows in the gold veining and makes the marble look truly three-dimensional. Avoid a single harsh overhead light directly above, which can create flat, washed-out reflections.

✨ Complete the Spa Look — Add LED Cove Lighting

Mount LED strip lighting behind a ceiling cove or bath panel to add a soft warm glow that reflects off the high gloss marble surface. The interplay between the glowing LED and the gold-veined marble is absolutely stunning — it's what transforms a nice bathroom into a real spa experience.

Maintaining Your Gloss Marble Panels

Daily care: After showering, quickly wipe down with a squeegee or soft cloth to prevent water spotting on the gloss surface. This takes 30 seconds and keeps panels looking showroom-fresh indefinitely.

Weekly clean: Spray with a standard glass cleaner and buff with a microfibre cloth. The non-porous SPC surface means no deep cleaning is ever needed — bacteria and mould have nowhere to grow.

What to avoid: Abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or anything with bleach. These can permanently dull the gloss surface. Stick to pH-neutral cleaners and soft cloths only.
